“The Parson Woodforde closes its door at the close of business on Saturday 20thMay. This is a sad day given the amount of support the staff and owners at the Parson have been to Wensum Valley cycling since we moved to Weston Longville in 2015.
But there is some good news for WVC as the owners of the Parson Woodforde have given permission for the club to use the Pub on Thursdays and Sundays before and after rides. This is a very generous offer which we have accepted. There will be a difference to the post ride gathering as there won’t be a bar or kitchen service – we’ll have to sort our own drinks and food and clear up after ourselves including disposing of litter. We’ll have a key so will be able to get in and lock up at the end of the day. Timings will be tighter as well – the pub will open roughly 30 minutes before a ride and will be closed and locked up 60-90 minutes after a ride completes.
We will be monitoring the success of this use and discussing the longer term use of the pub as a base with the current owners and will report back.

Welcome to Wensum Valley Cycling
We are a local cycling group formed by enthusiasts who enjoy the social side of the sport with the aim of encouraging more people in the area to come along for the ride.
The regular rides are social, chatty paced with a variety of routes, mainly on quiet country roads and lanes taking in the scenery throughout the local area. There is usually a planned stop at one of a growing number of lovely, cycling friendly cafés or tea rooms. For the more experienced riders, we also have faster groups that ride on Thursday evenings.
Our main cycling and social base is The Parson Woodforde in Weston Longville and most of our group rides start and finish at the pub. We also hold events at the pub, such as maintenance evenings and BBQs where all are welcome.
British Cycling and Team Sky, providing inspiration to young and old, cycling is a great, fun way of getting us all active, improving fitness, losing weight, achieving new goals and meeting new people.
Look forward to seeing you on one of our rides soon.
